(The Fat Smash Diet )
Ok its Monday Labor Day September 4th. I started my Smash Diet today. I got the book on Saturday and read it thoroughly. Im so ready!  I am going to let you follow me through all 5 phases.

Phase 1 is the detox. Basically 9 days of unlimited fruit and raw or steamed veggies.  I went to farmers market and got all my meals ready for the week. I was happy to see I  was allowed some low fat yogurt and soy milk so I could make smoothies. I will absolutely miss my cereal and sushi. Dr. Ian Smith actually makes it a point to says no avocados :( bye bye dragon rolls.
Being I was off today it was really hard not to wake up and grab a bowl of cereal. I had a smoothie instead. It was a beautiful day so I went rollerblading at the park for 40 minutes. I also did 1 hour and 20 minutes of power walking. Later in the day followed by chasing my friends dog around so I got my 30 minutes of physical activity done and then some. This works out well being as tomorrow I work both jobs which will have me working 9am -11PM… or later. I get 2 days exercise free during detox. I’m going to use tomorrow as my first one. Today is my only day off this week. So I am trying not to burn myself out completely. My 9-5 is behind a desk. My part time job has me on my feet all night so it’s a good balance. This week I work a total of 58 hours without my commute so I will have to do some at home workouts.
I will not be weighing or measuring myself again till detox is over.

As of 7AM today I weigh 132. (Im 4.11 that’s horrible!)

Heres what I have done so far..

filled my frig with fruits and veggies. I cut carrots, cucumbers & broccoli. i put in ziplocks for lunch. I also cut up all types of fruits like mango, peaches, strawberries and kiwi.

Next I made myself a smoothie with some of my fruit and a low fat yogurt and 2 tablespoons of soy milk.
Dr. Smith recommends freezing seedless grapes as a snack. I did just that. they are pretty tasty.
DAY 1 JOURNAL

meal 1- 9AM. 16 oz fruit smoothie

meal 2- 12AM.  (supposed to be heavy snack)  handful of frozen grapes. you are allowed 2 cups of brown rice. I made some and forgot how much i hate brown rice. i didnt eat it.

meal 3- 2:30 PM bowl of strawberries, half a mango and a peach. half a cup of carrots with a teaspoon on no fat ranch dressing.

meal 4- 5:30 PM (supposed to be light snack) 3 bean salad. kidney beans, white beans and lima beans with a lil vinegar

meal 4- 8 PM 2 eggwhites w/ some cut up peaches

snack - no snack

total water - 6 twenty five oz glasses

Physical activity- 40 min roller blading. 1 hr 20 minutes power walking

comments- I was watching TV and craved my pepridge farm gold fish so bad. Damn i would love a cup of them right about now. 
I wanted to make my asparagus but I cant use the wine I usually cook it in so I went without. Ill try steaming some later in the week maybe.
I love my fruit and veggies and the smoothies kept me full for a while but its expensive eating this healthy.

Tomorrow:
I have 2 dilemmas. At my FT job I work with all men who eat all day in front of me. We even have a good humor truck that pulls up in front of my office at 4PM everyday. Boy do I love ice cream.
2nd dilemma- I work PT at a restaurant. I will have to forgo my free meal or just ask for some spinach or something. Tomorrow will be tough.


DAY 2

meal 1- 9AM. 12 oz fruit smoothie

meal 2- 1 PM. 16 oz cup of fruit (kiwis, strawberries, grapes)

meal 3- 2:40 PM  ziplock full of carrots & broccoli (guys ordered chineese food. Its smelt pretty good but I was strong lol)

meal 4- 4:30 cup of low fat yogurt (I watched co-workers eat toasted almond ice cream bar and a strawberry sundae. YUM. I was proud i didnt give in to the my greatest temptation. My dad owned a Carvel. rest his soul. He started me off early.)

meal 5- 7:00 had some sliced cucumber at work. I had to for go my free meal :( they prepare sauteed vegetables with butter and I was not really in the mood for anymore raw broccoli and carrots. I need some more variety in my veggie group

snack - no snack

total water - 8 twenty five oz glasses

Physical activity-  none (well 5 hours on my feet running around the restuarant)

note: Im proud of myself. our menu specials were crab stuffed shrimp (a fav) and chocolate valcano for dessert. I just enjoyed the aroma from both. I had serious will power all day. Its 11:48 and Im going to bed. Gnite!

DAY 3

meal 1- 7 AM 2 eggwhites

meal 2- 11 AM 16 oz smoothie

meal 3- 1:30 PM ziplock full of carrots & broccoli , 12 oz of fruit

meal 4-tbd 5:30 steamed green beans & a tomato

meal 5-edamame (soy beans) & fruit

snack -  frozen grapes

total water -7 twenty five oz glasses

Physical activity- 6AM- 20 minutes on trampoline. 6PM-1 hour of power walking

comments: get floss for your desk at work and or purse. these seeds are too much lol


DAY 4

meal 1- 9 AM 16 oz. smoothie

meal 2- 11 AM cup of lowfat yogurt

meal 3- 1:30 PM  edamame (soy beans) & fruit

meal 4- 5:30 12oz. smoothie

meal 5-NONE

snack - some pineapple and a few frozen grapes

total water -11 twenty five oz glasses

Physical activity- 30 min of kick boxing & 1 hour power walking


DAY 5

meal 1- 9 AM 16 oz. smoothie

meal 2- 1PM cut string beans

meal 3-3 PM raspberries & small cup of yogurt

meal 4 - no time for dinner tonight (had to get to PT job)

meal 5-not good...I didnt eat anything. we where sooooooo busy

snack - got home at 12:30. I was real tired. I didnt have snack becuase i know I was going to bed asap.

total water -7 twenty five oz glasses

Physical activity- WORKING 15 HOURS TODAY NO EXTRA PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

comments- I screwed up today. I missed 2 meals. or at least a snack and small meal. I thought I could snack on some veggies at work but I didnt have a second to break & eat.

DAY 6

meal 1- 10 AM 2 eggwhites and a half of tomato

meal 2- 12 AM 12 oz smoothie

meal 3-2 PM an apple

meal 4 - yogurt

meal 5-none (i didnt snack on veggies at work because i was not hungry)

snack -11PM half a smoothie. kind of late to eat but i worked till 12:30 and wont be in bed till after 1AM. its not like i am eating then going to bed. i still had over an hour of running around  the restuarant. boy am I tired! i have to go in tomorrow morning for brunch then tomorrow night out with the girls and back to work monday to do it all again. I wont be working out tomorrow at all. i will have to do a really good workout on monday because Tues and Wed next week i work 9am- midnite.

total water -5 twenty five oz glasses

Physical activity- jogged 2.5 miles. 20 minutes stairmaster. I really hurting today. workout was horrible. Im on Empty. plus i can add vacuuming, cleaning house, mopping floor, laundry and foodshopping. DR says thats a form of exercise lol
I must say IM not used to not counting calories. I have been burning about 300 on most heavy physical activity days. I cant imagine IM taking in more than 900 so that's got to be good right??? I cant wait to weigh myself. I hope IM not disappointed. My cat wants to know where the chicken is? she loves to watch me stirfry chicken. she has had nothing to beg for. LOL

comments- I don't work my FT job on the weekends. I will be at the restuarant tonight from 5- whenever. I need to have most my meals before 5 and I  need to take time to snack on some veggies at work tonight.
All in all my journey so far has not been to bad. Im not starving myself and my cravings are few.

tomorrow- I had a dilemma because it was my friends Bday and a few of us were going out to eat. I searched the menus high and low and its hard to find a place that has raw or steamed veggies. I came up with a solution. I recommended going to the comedy club tomorrow. there is a 2 item minimum. I will get my bottle of water and use the other item to but Bday girl a drink. this way everyone can eat and its not so weird that I dont join in. I will be watching the show. I don't have to feel uncomfortable about sitting at a restaurant with my friends and not eating. It should be fun. IM glad it worked out.

DAY 7 ( I didnt think i would make it to a week without cheating. Im so proud of myself!)
today will be tough. im completely out of fruit and i have no time to go to produce store. i work till 5 and then i have to run have and get ready for show. hopefully i can make a quick run in between.

meal 1- 8AM 2 eggwhites

meal 2- 11AM carrots with 2 teaspoons of low fat dressing

meal 3- 3PM grilled asapargus

meal 4 - 6PM 16 oz smoothie

meal 5-nothing just had water at the comedy show

snack -yogurt

Physical activity- none besides work

comments- when we break up brunch at my job today they let us have free range on the food left over. cookies, brownies, pastas, carrot cakes, bacon, crossaints...you name it. Grrrrr
I did not give in. not even a lil bite of something naughty.

DAY 8
today stunk. I woke up sooooo sick! i really should have made soup. Im dying. plus tonights my one night off at my PT job and i got stuck working late at my FT job.

meal 1- 9AM 16 oz smoothie

meal 2- 12AM cup of yogurt (couldn't even finish i was to sick)

meal 3- 4PM chic peas, kidney beans and tomato

meal 4 - 8PM 10 oz smoothie (just got in from work)

meal 5-none

snack -apple

total water -7 twenty five oz glasses

Physical activity- none (just a walk to supermarket for medicine at 6AM. a few blocks)

DAY 9 MY LAST DAY!
almost done with detox! I can incorporate new foods in my diet real soon! Im looking forward to sweet potatoes, avocados & chicken! Oh and cereal!!!!
Im still very sick and i work both jobs today. i am really slacking on my workouts :( If my PT job can't trim my hours a little bit I may have to leave.

meal 1- 9AM 16 oz smoothie (I didnt weigh myself yet but i moved 2 belt loops this morning!)

meal 2- 12AM bowl of fruit

meal 3- 2PM yogurt

meal 4 - nothing

meal 5-snacked on some carrots at work (too sick to eat I had to force myself)

Physical activity- just running around restuarant all night

comments: Im working real late but I will try get up early and take after picture and post to website. I have a before one that i will post along with it. Ill be sure to wear same thing. I will post weight and measurements for sure. Still so many foods not allowed in phase 2 but I went this far on fruit and veggies how bad can it be? I think I will detox once every 5 weeks for 5 days if this works out for me. Once i get my phases down.

damn did I mention I was sick. ahhhcccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooo!

I have b4 and after pic's in an unflattering sweat suit but the lighting is different being its midnite. theres a lil difference in my hips and butt. my breasts too unfortunately lol

nothing to exciting today I am still terribly sick. maybe some soup and oatmeal. ill have fruit to snack on. i wish i could have something more fun to celebrate detox :(

DAY 10

meal 1- 9AM cup of oatmeal with raisans

meal 2-12AM chicken noodle soup 12 oz

meal 3- 230PM side salad (40 calories)with cucumbers and tomatoes. dressing vinagriette lite (80 calories) total 120 calories

snack - cup of jello (snack pack)

meal 4 - grilled eggplant


now that im off detox i wont bore you with my daily diet. for phase 2 it will be fruits and veggies with some grilled chicken or shrimp. some salads, eggwhites and sushi maybe once or twice. Im still drinking water. i do have a cup of OJ in the morning. I am still very sick (strep throat) I have not been to gym in days. Im hoping I can get back to normal in the next 48 hours so I can burn off some calories. I know my soup was a lil high in sodium. Its Friday the 15th. Day 12. I will keep you posted every few days. hopefully by next 10 days i have new pictures to share and new weightlose. Thanks for all the emails. Keep them coming. Sunday, Sept, 23 UGH!I am a little bummed out because I woke up and weighed myself to find out i gained 2 of my pounds back. I have been in phase 2 for 5 days. i still have been eating my fruit and veggies. Mainly fruit. I did have Special K with slim milk instead of smoothie on one day and last night I had a sweet potato for dinner with smartbeat.  the first 2 days i was so sick i had soup that was low in fat but high in sodium. it was much needed on the account of how sick I was. I think the soup and lack of workout helped me gain back the 2 pounds. I am still sick but I feel better than I have all week. after weighing myself i made a smoothie and took a brisk walk at park for about an hour. I really need to rest up today and get myself ready for work tomorrow. outside of washing alll my bedding...again and vacumming I am going to be just relaxing today. I made my lunch already. giant bowl of all my favorite fruits cut up w/ half an avacado. For dinner i will have eggwhites to keep it light.  Outside of the soup and no workout these last few days i have followed Phase 2. Im hoping the two combined was my downfall. If anyone had any Phase 2 stories they would like to share please email me.

Monday, Sept 18 OK Im a 127 Lbs. I lost one on the pounds I gained back :)
i had fruits and veggies last 2 days. I did replace my lunch with sushi one day. i had half the serving I normally have. also i had salad with a few pieces of grilled chicken yesterday with fruit for dinner and smoothie for breakfast. I have been crazving salty foods. like pretzels. i know i can have pretzels to stage 3 which is a while away. i have faith in Dr and diet regimin but wonder who i will keep weight off in stage 3. there are some of my favorite things on the YES list for that phase. I also see he wants workouts stepped up. Unfortunately with both jobs I dont have the extra time. I still workout out but more than 3x a week is very hard for me. I went jogging before work and today is a long day. I work from 5:30-11 tonight @ the bar and i work here till 5. I was jogging at 6:30Am. you do the math. by Thursday it will all catch up with me. At least i have off Thursday night so I can watch the Office primiere! I love that show!

Thursday Sept 21 Im a 124 Lbs. I lost another 3 pounds. Original weight on Sept 5th was 132. Thats 8 Lbs total. Being I am so short (4.11) My goal weight is 115. 
total 17 pounds.  I need to maintain current weight and lose addtional 8. Im going to take new pictures because i see my waist is thinner :)
they should be up by tomorrow.

Day 23 and I am down 11 pounds. I am thinner in the waist for sure. Hips will take awhile. I have been doing crunches and lunges for stomach and legs. belly can use some work but its much better!! I have been able to get 4 days of workouts in. I haven't went off diet really. just a handful of pretzels one afternoon. still doing the fruit and the smoothies. im done with raw veggies for awhile. no more bagged spinach either. dont need any Ecoli thank you very much. Egg Beaters liquid egg whites are great. Cherrios are a fun snack to have instead of chips. Im still enjoying frozen grapes. I seem to spend alot of money on grapes. i like them frozen and i like them in my fruit salad. i go through about 2 lbs every few days.  I took a bikini pick today. Im pleased with it. I noticed a difference in my bikini vacation pix from Aruba to Miami. less than a year difference. i saw large waist, belly and hips. I am slowly getting back to my pre-Aruba body. have a great night! talk to you all soon!
October 1st- no new weightlose. just maintaining but I was able to try on Jr Jeans in a size 7 & actually have them fit! I don't want to take tag off LOL
Oct 19th I am down 16 pounds. 10 more to go!

I have to step up my cardio, I just need about 5 more hours in my days ; (

I was only losing

I was not losing much on phase 2 so I went back to phase 1 for a while.


Jan 3rd and i am at my goal weight. However I paid the price. I was doing the beginning detox/ part phase one every month and as a result my body was rejected normal foods. I was throwing up large meals around the Holidays. I had 2 episodes of extreme pain. thinking it was another kidney stone I went to hospital last night to find out my liver is full of toxins from my detox habits. Now remember I was going off plan and repeating phase 1 every month. my blood test has my liver at 84 when it should read 13-52. IM on a bland diet and I have to slowly reintroduce foods that I have been avoiding like white potatoes. pasta, etc.
Make sure you follow phases as designed unlike me. I learned the hard way & I don't want to sugar coat it for you. feel free to email me any questions

Update-    Feb 16th- I have since had a biopsy that showed i have NAFTD. non alcholic fatter liver disease. all self inflicted. also my gallbladder showed up compounded as if i had a large meal even though i had fasted 13 hours before my test. after more treatments and tests i now learn my Gallbladder most be removed. It is leaking into my liver! I now go back to following a much safer way of life and a healthier way of eating. for example you cant completely cut out all white foods. although salt sugars and starts are not flattering to figure some fats are much needed for your body to function.

so please....

if you are doing the fat smash diet or any other fad diets... don't cut foods out for good just minimize them If you have this book be sure you follow phases as designed unlike me. I learned the hard way & I don't want to sugar coat it for you. feel free to email me any questions

update- had gallbladder out 3/5. recovery was painful. weeks later im almost 100% again. thank goodness. :)

Im almost back to goal weight doing it right this time. smaller portions. more fiber so i feel hungry. fruits, veggies, chicken, fish and even ice cream. Plenty of physical activity and still avoiding most (not all) white foods. it took me twice as long to take off but its off the right way!


6/26. this is me hiking. 11 more pounds to go!
no more PT job. I have been jogging 3-5 miles 5 days a week!
